Thanks for all your work. Illuminating as always. I remember June 76 driving around Surrey and seeing nothing but burnt looking fields and hills - devoid of green. Those of us awake enough know that all this climate emergency nonsense is just about control. 'Science' is the new magic that only the high priests supposedly understand and which cannot be questioned by ordinary folk. It is a classic cult. It was good to see John Clauser, an American physicist and nobel prize winner join the Board of the Directors of the CO2 Coalition and say: "In my opinion, there is no real climate crisis. There is, however, a very real problem with providing a decent standard of living to the world’s large population and an associated energy crisis. The latter is being unnecessarily exacerbated by what, in my opinion, is incorrect climate science" The more on the side of true science the better!

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t things start going wrong some time ago (15-ish years?) when the BBC publicly pronounced that as far as they were concerned the science on global warming was settled and they wouldn’t bother giving a voice to any other opinion. Effectively declaring global warming scepticism on a par with perpetual motion machines. There was some comment AIRI but minimal opposition at the time.

Yep, it was about then, maybe around 2016/17. There was a memo to the effect that producers didn't need to worry about balanced programme content and thus didn't need to invite alternative voices.

N.B. I've now corrected a whole bunch of typos that slipped through the net!

Denis Howell was probably the most successful government minister in history. He was appointed minister for drought in August 1976, shortly after minister for floods when the rains came and minister for snow in the dreadfully cold winter of 1978/79.

Thanks for the article - reminds of some medical claims and associated stats....

I thought that all the temp sets were based on deriving temperature anomalies? So we would take say Jun av 23 and subtract Jun av 76 at station 1, then do the same for all other stations. So we now have delta T at each station. The June 23 temp anomaly (rel to 76) is then the average of the temp anomalies across all stations....This is supposed to avoid the issue of averaging say Lerwick with Bournmouth. Or am I missing something?

John, like you we considered turning the heating on last evening and did light the woodburner- I consider this an act of public service to add more life-giving CO2 to the atmosphere. No doubt the current chilly July is considered mere climate variability by the climate fanatics whereas the recent flaming June was firm evidence for catastrophic anthropomorphic warming!

Of course! They are not just having their cake and eating it but pinching other folks' cakes as well.
