There’s a great deal to say about this but we shall start by considering the maximum temperature reached in my garden over the hottest two days on record in the UK so far.
Bizarrely, there are 17 thermometers in our household which makes me wonder if I’m a tad obsessive. In my defence there are 7 in use in the kitchen, these being a mix of cooking probes, sugar thermometers and fridge/freezer thermometers. Then there are two in the first aid cabinet and one in each living area. I could argue that the most important thermometer is the one in my humidor but when it comes to climate change it is the north wall digital min-max jobby that counts. This has been calibrated against other thermometers and against readings taken at the weather station a few miles away and readings have been found to be trustworthy.
